In February, Larry Davis, CEO, and Gordon Weiler, Vice President of Sales, attended NFPA’s annual conference in balmy Orlando, Florida. Hundreds of attendees representing manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers from the fluid power industry were there to learn from experienced speakers, brainstorm during committee meetings, and network with industry peers. Presentations included the “Internet of Things” in relation to fluid power, sales and people management, and geopolitics among other things.
Larry Davis, CEO said, “It’s always good to catch up with old friends and member companies to refresh friendships and to confirm a sense of where the industry is headed in the near term. It is safe to say we all seem to be “suffering” from explosive growth.”
One of the most challenging issues facing the fluid power industry is Workforce Development. The NFPA created the Fluid Power Challenges which give students, from middle school to college, hands-on learning, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. They also introduce them to careers in the fluid power industry.
