As with any company, the development of Daman’s recruitment process has come with many challenges. Over the last two years, there has been a labor shortage within the industry. Additionally, there has been an influx of people choosing to pursue other opportunities for career changes and moving to alternate locations. We typically find people make these changes within the first two years of employment, which is still within the training phase. Once our employees have completed their training, we have learned that they tend to stay with us for the long haul.
Our lengthy training process requires employees to value the willingness and capacity to learn rather than simply maintaining previously acquired skills. Candidates must demonstrate good communication skills, the ability to listen and retain information, and the ability to work both on a team and independently. We look for people who display problem-solving skills and have the ability to learn complex subject matter, since there is a huge engineering component to our field.
Our recruitment process begins with a short online application completed by the applicant. From there, our HR team begins to review the full application and schedules a phone interview with our candidate. Upon the completion of the phone interview, a formal in-person interview takes place. Unlike other company interviews, the Daman interview involves multiple departments along with our HR team and takes about 15 minutes to complete. If the interview is a success, we will invite the candidate to complete a job shadow on the desired shift to get a glimpse into life at Daman. During this one hour job shadow, our candidate will meet the team, see the work areas, learn about the processes and tour the facility.
Once the job shadow is complete, we will contact the candidate to discuss whether this will be a good mutual match. If so, we will schedule a drug and background test. Upon the successful completion of these tests, we will extend the offer of employment to our candidate and welcome another valued employee to our Daman family.
