DON’T MISS THIS PRESENTATION ON PRESSURE RATINGS AND DESIGN GUIDELINES FOR CONTINUOUS CAST DUCTILE IRON IN HYDRAULIC APPLICATIONS
A white paper highlighting the results of a collaboration involving Daman Products, Dura-Bar and the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) is being featured at the International Fluid Power Exposition (IFPE) in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The paper, titled "Pressure Ratings and Design Guidelines for Continuous Cast Ductile Iron in Hydraulic Applications," examines the results of testing performed at MSOE. During the study, the pressure rating for continuously cast ductile iron bar stock was determined using the guidelines established in NFPA standard T2.6.1, R1-1991, and test manifolds consisting of two drilled ports–one under hydraulic pressure and the other open to the atmosphere.
On March 7, Dura-Bar Product Engineering Manager Bob O'Rourke and Daman Products National Sales Manager Gordon Weiler will be co-presenting the highlights of the study's findings at IFPE.
The idea for this research project came about when Daman began investigating the use of Dura-Bar ductile iron for high-pressure flanges. After reviewing the theoretical pressure data for manifolds, both companies realized that there was a need for verified data that would allow design engineers to determine when ductile iron can be safely used for operating pressures above 5,000 psi. Now, as a result of this research, we have determined that continuous cast ductile iron can be safely used for up to 6,500 psi.
